About the role#
This is a full-time, paid position for a Truck Driver Student. You will work on-site in Edinburgh, Indiana, while completing training to earn your CDL-A. This role provides hands-on experience as an LTL Driver.
What you'll do#
- Attend training sessions to obtain your CDL-A.
- Gain on-the-job experience by working as an LTL Driver under supervision.
- Perform vehicle inspections and maintain records in accordance with FMCSR, DOT, and company policies.
- Load and unload freight using a forklift.
- Verify and complete all required documentation and reports.
- Maintain regular contact with service center personnel.
- Operate a tractor-trailer combination under supervision.
- Adhere to all company safety policies.
- Perform physical tasks including lifting objects up to 75 lbs, moving converter dollies, and operating heavy equipment.
- Work in various weather conditions, including standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods.
What you'll need#
- You must be at least 21 years old.
- At least 1 year of related experience.
- A valid state-issued driver's license held for at least 12 months.
- A CDL-A permit by the first day of class.
- Ability to obtain double/triple trailers, tanker, and HAZMAT endorsements within 90 days of starting.
- Initiate a TSA fingerprint-based background check by the second week of class.
- A safe driving record and history.
- Ability to pass a DOT drug test, a company-paid DOT physical, and a pre-hire test.
- No prior positive drug tests or refusals in the last 3 years.
- Availability to work a variety of shifts, including days, nights, evenings, and weekends.
- Proficiency in reading and speaking English to communicate with the public and complete reports.
- Forklift experience and a Class B CDL are preferred but not required.
