About the role#
As a Truck Driver Student, you will undergo training to earn your CDL-A while gaining practical experience as an LTL Driver. This program prepares you for a career in transportation by combining classroom instruction with supervised on-the-job training.
What you'll do#
- Attend training sessions to obtain your CDL-A license.
- Perform vehicle inspections as required by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
- Load and unload freight using a forklift.
- Maintain regular contact with service center personnel.
- Complete required documentation and reports according to company and DOT policies.
- Operate a tractor-trailer combination under supervision.
- Lift freight weighing up to 50 lbs frequently and occasionally over 75 lbs.
What you'll need#
- You must be at least 21 years old.
- At least 1 year of related experience.
- A valid state-issued driver's license held for a minimum of 12 months.
- A CDL-A permit by the first day of class.
- Ability to pass a DOT drug test with no prior positive tests or refusals in the last 3 years.
- Ability to pass a company-paid DOT physical and pre-hire test.
- Availability to work various shifts including days, nights, and weekends.
- Proficiency in English to communicate with the public, read traffic signs, and complete reports.
