About the role#
This is a full-time, paid position for a Truck Driver Student. You will attend training to earn your CDL-A and gain on-the-job experience as an LTL Driver. This role involves operating a tractor-trailer combination under supervision while transporting materials.
What you'll do#
- Attend training sessions to obtain a CDL-A.
- Perform vehicle inspections and maintain records according to FMCSR, DOT, and company policies.
- Load and unload freight using a forklift as needed.
- Complete required documentation and reports.
- Maintain communication with service center personnel.
- Safely operate heavy equipment and move converter dollies.
- Lift freight and objects weighing 50 lbs frequently, and occasionally over 75 lbs.
- Reach, bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat, and kneel during daily operations.
- Work in various weather conditions and walk on different surfaces.
What you'll need#
- Minimum age of 21.
- At least 1 year of related experience.
- A valid state-issued driver's license held for at least 12 months.
- A CDL-A permit by the first day of class.
- Ability to obtain double/triple trailers, tanker, and HAZMAT endorsements within 90 days.
- Ability to initiate a TSA fingerprint-based background check by the second week of class.
- A safe driving record and history.
- Ability to pass a DOT drug test, a company-paid DOT physical, and a pre-hire test.
- No prior positive drug tests or refusals in the last 3 years.
- Availability to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends.
- Proficiency in reading and speaking English to converse with the public and complete reports.
- Forklift experience and a Class B CDL are preferred.
