About the role#
As a Radiologic Tech Extern, you will gain hands-on clinical experience by supporting imaging technologists at Aurora Sinai Medical Center. This part-time role is designed for students currently enrolled in an accredited Radiologic Technology program who are looking to apply their academic knowledge in a hospital setting.
What you'll do#
- Assist imaging technologists with patient preparation and exam room setup.
- Clean, stock, and maintain exam rooms and work areas.
- Verify patient identification and explain procedures to ensure patients feel informed and comfortable.
- Transport patients to and from exam areas.
- Use radiology computer systems to manage requisitions, schedules, and patient records.
- Review medical records to gather clinical history, lab results, and physician orders.
- Position patients and select exposure factors under the direct supervision of a licensed radiographer.
- Document images and patient records accurately in SmartChart, RIS, and PACS.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
- Completion of at least 12 months of training in an accredited Radiology program.
- Documented clinical competencies and academic coursework in specified imaging procedures, patient care, and radiation safety.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Ability to stand for 60% of the workday and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Strong communication and patient care skills.
- Registered Technologist (RT) registration from the ARRT must be obtained within 120 days of graduation.

- This position is located on-site at Aurora Sinai Medical Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
- The role is part-time with a variable schedule.
- This is a paid externship.
