About the role#
This position is for a Clinical Nursing Student to join the Float Pool at Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center. You will support the nursing team by providing direct patient care and assisting with daily operations across various departments. This is a part-time, on-site role with a rolling term.
What you'll do#
- Assist patients with comfort measures and activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, and feeding.
- Help patients with mobility by performing range of motion exercises, lifting, turning, and ambulation.
- Perform routine care delegated by a Registered Nurse, including recording vital signs, obtaining specimens, and applying dressings.
- Conduct point of care testing and 12 lead EKGs.
- Explain procedures to patients to help them feel comfortable and informed.
- Assist the nursing team with admitting, transferring, and discharging patients.
- Manage clerical tasks, including answering phones and call lights, and stocking patient rooms with supplies.
- Document patient information and participate in hand-off reports.
- Assist in restraining combative patients when necessary.
What you'll need#
- A High School Diploma or GED.
- Current enrollment in a professional school of nursing.
- Successful completion of at least one clinical nursing course and one clinical experience.
- Current CPR certification.
- Ability to read and follow written instructions and patient information.
- Basic computer and technology skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills to communicate with patients and the healthcare team.
- Ability to adapt to change and manage multiple tasks in a busy environment.
Location & details#
- Location: Toledo, Ohio.
- This is a paid, part-time position.
- Weekend, holiday, and on-call rotation are required per department policy.
