About the role#
The Clinical Nursing Student role provides direct patient care while working under the guidance of a Registered Nurse. This position offers clinical experience through job shadowing and the performance of delegated tasks. You will work within the policies and regulations of the facility to support the nursing process and patient care delivery.
What you'll do#
- Support the Registered Nurse in applying the nursing process and collaborate to improve critical thinking skills.
- Provide basic patient care, including recording vital signs, assisting with personal hygiene, and supporting mobility, feeding, and hydration.
- Act as a liaison between patients and the nursing team by reporting changes or concerns.
- Participate in hand-off reports and document patient data accurately and on time.
- Perform delegated tasks once your competency is validated.
- Utilize clinical technology and escalate concerns through the proper chain of command.
- Provide customer service to patients, families, and visitors.
What you'll need#
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Current enrollment in a nursing program.
- Completion of at least one clinical nursing course and one clinical rotation.
- Ability to communicate clearly and follow directions from the healthcare team.
- Knowledge of patient safety standards, infection prevention, and transmission-based precautions.
- Professionalism and the ability to solve problems using critical thinking.
- BLS certification and recent experience in acute or long-term care are preferred.
