About the role#
Mercy Health is hiring a Clinical Nursing Student or Patient Care Tech (PCT) for the Med Surg Tele Unit at West Hospital. This is a part-time position working 24 hours per week on the night shift.
What you'll do#
- Provide basic health care and support to patients under the guidance of a registered nurse.
- Monitor patient health and measure vital signs.
- Assist patients with feeding, grooming, and personal hygiene.
- Help with mobility and therapeutic transfers to foster patient independence.
- Sanitize and clean patient rooms.
- Act as a liaison between patients and nursing staff to report changes or concerns.
- Provide customer service to patients, families, and visitors.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care.
- Participate in hand-off reports at the start and end of shifts.
What you'll need#
- BLS Basic Life Support certification.
- Completion of one of the following: a nursing aide training program, STNA certification, CNA certification, or successful completion of a nursing program that included one clinical nursing course and one clinical rotation.
- Alternatively, one year of relevant experience in a clinical setting is accepted.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
