About the role#
As a Nurse Extern, you will gain hands-on clinical experience while supporting the patient care team. This role helps you build your skills, confidence, and clinical judgment as you work toward your future as a Registered Nurse.
What you'll do#
- Perform direct patient care under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as hygiene, nutrition, mobility, and elimination.
- Monitor, record, and communicate patient conditions to the supervising RN.
- Document care according to hospital standards.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to support safe patient care.
- Help evaluate patient and family learning needs and provide education as directed.
- Advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of patients.
- Support performance improvement initiatives and contribute to a culture of safety.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited School of Nursing (1st year or higher).
- Active CNA certification.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Strong critical thinking and sound judgment.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Comfort working in stressful environments.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care.
Location & details#
- Location: Rutherfordton, North Carolina.
- Schedule: Self-scheduling PRN, with a requirement to work at least 24 hours per month.
- Employment type: Part-time.
