About the role#
As a Nurse Extern, you will provide direct patient care under the supervision and delegation of a Registered Nurse. This role is a part-time, paid position based on-site in Maysville, Kentucky. You will support the health care team while gaining clinical experience in an acute care setting.
What you'll do#
- Provide direct patient care as directed by a Registered Nurse.
- Document care provided and monitor patient conditions.
- Communicate updates on patient status to the supervising RN.
- Assist patients with daily activities like hygiene, nutrition, and walking.
- Educate patients and families based on their specific learning needs.
- Advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of every patient.
- Collaborate with other disciplines to coordinate care, including discharges and transfers.
- Maintain professional relationships with patients, their families, and your coworkers.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an approved school of nursing.
- Third-year student status or higher.
- Graduation date within 13 months of hire.
- Good standing with your nursing school.
- Clinical competence to perform required nursing acts.
- Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BCLS) certification.
