About the role#
As a Nurse Extern at Mercy, you will work under the direction of an RN or LPN to provide individualized patient care. This role focuses on helping patients reach their highest level of wellness while working as part of a collaborative team. You will perform designated clinical procedures and non-clinical support tasks to ensure quality care.
What you'll do#
- Assist with direct patient care under the supervision of nursing staff.
- Work with team members to meet group goals.
- Complete clinical procedures and support tasks.
- Participate in required training programs to build your skills.
- Meet physical demands including lifting up to 50 pounds, prolonged standing, and walking.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma, G.E.D, or CNA/CPTC certification.
- Enrollment in a high school healthcare career program or be at least 18 years old to participate in the UAP training program.
- Current employment at Mercy.
- BLS certification within one month of hire.
- Completion of PCA competencies within three months of hire.
- A Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credential is preferred.
