About the role#
Mercy Hospital Washington is hiring a Respiratory Intern for a part-time, night shift position. This role provides clinical experience for students currently enrolled in an accredited Respiratory Care program. You will work under the direction of physicians and the supervision of licensed respiratory care practitioners to provide patient care.
What you'll do#
- Assist with respiratory therapy procedures and treatments under supervision.
- Observe, assess, and report patient conditions to the respiratory care team.
- Document patient care activities in the electronic health record.
- Help educate patients and their families about respiratory treatments and therapies.
- Perform equipment safety checks and maintain respiratory supplies.
- Communicate with the healthcare team during shift reports and meetings.
- Follow infection prevention guidelines and maintain patient safety standards.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited Respiratory Care program.
- A valid Temporary Educational Permit (Respiratory Student License) in the state of Missouri.
- A current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Strong communication skills and a commitment to patient-centered care.
