About the role#
As a Nurse Extern at Valley View Regional Medical Center, you will provide direct patient care under the guidance and supervision of a registered nurse. This role focuses on supporting the health care team while you gain clinical experience in a hospital setting. You will act as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of patients during your shifts.
What you'll do#
- Perform direct patient care tasks as directed by a registered nurse.
- Monitor, record, and communicate patient conditions.
- Assist patients with daily living activities, including hygiene, nutrition, and ambulation.
- Build professional relationships with patients, their families, and your coworkers.
- Identify patient learning needs and provide education based on their specific condition and circumstances.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a nursing program, specifically in your third year or higher.
- Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Comfort working in a high-stress environment.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, which must be obtained within 30 days of your hire date.
Location & details#
- Location: Fort Mohave, Arizona.
- Employment Type: Part time (PRN).
- Schedule: Varied shifts, including days or nights. You must be available for at least 4 shifts per month, with 2 of those shifts falling on weekends.
