About the role#
The Nurse Extern I program at Saint Francis Hospital in Bartlett offers nursing students the chance to gain clinical experience while working with our nursing teams. This developmental program helps you build skills and prepare for your future as a professional nurse. You will begin your externship on a Medical-Surgical unit, working under the scope outlined by the State Board of Nursing.
What you'll do#
- Assist nursing staff with daily patient care activities.
- Help patients with hygiene, mobility, and comfort measures.
- Support nurses during patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Maintain a clean and organized environment for patients.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure quality outcomes.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited nursing program.
- Successful completion of Fundamentals of Nursing.
- An updated resume and an unofficial nursing school transcript verifying your course completion.
Location & details#
- Location: Saint Francis Hospital, Bartlett, Tennessee.
- Status: PRN, requiring a minimum of two 12-hour shifts per month.
- Scheduling: Based on departmental needs and your availability.
- Orientation: Selected candidates must attend the New Hire Orientation on October 9, 2026.
