About the role#
This internship is a summer 2027 opportunity based in our Columbus office. You will work within our water group, gaining exposure to projects involving flood protection, stormwater management, water treatment, and sewer tunneling. While the focus is on water resources, you may have opportunities to assist with other disciplines like geotechnical, transportation, or environmental services.
What you'll do#
- Process and manage data using GIS to support hydrologic and hydraulic modeling.
- Create spreadsheets, graphs, and figures for design reports.
- Prepare design and construction plans, calculations, specifications, quantity take-offs, and construction estimates.
- Assist with field work, including data collection, site inspections, and observations.
- Build surface models and draft in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Support project managers with tasks to track and advance project progress.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited degree program for Civil, Environmental, or FABE Engineering.
- A valid driver's license.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Good organizational skills, reliability, and the ability to work independently.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and take direction.
- Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcMap/GIS, PCSWMM, HydroCAD, HEC-RAS, or HEC-HMS is desired.
- Previous internship or co-op experience is a plus.
