About the role#
As a Civil/Geotechnical Engineering Intern, you will work within a team environment on water infrastructure projects. These may include dams, levees, transportation structures, landfills, and water treatment facilities. This role is intended for students who enjoy both office-based design work and outdoor field environments. You will support projects for clients including local municipalities, government agencies, and power utilities.
What you'll do#
- Assist with planning and coordinating geotechnical explorations.
- Perform modeling and design tasks for water infrastructure projects.
- Assist engineers by reviewing boring logs and laboratory data.
- Execute geotechnical analysis and evaluate hazards related to design and construction.
- Perform construction observations and assist with geotechnical field work.
- Use CAD and other design programs for basic tasks.
- Support project administration by writing reports, drafting proposals, tracking costs, and managing correspondence.
- Research and evaluate project data for technical staff.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor's degree program in civil engineering or a related field.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, take direction, and manage multiple assignments.
- A willingness to learn and develop engineering skills.
Location & details#
- Location: Atlanta, Georgia.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Status: Full-time, paid position.
- Modality: On-site office environment with required field work. You will spend extended periods at a desk, but field work may involve exposure to various weather conditions.
