About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027 within the Hydro and Dams group. You will join a multidisciplinary team of engineers focused on the planning, analysis, design, and construction of water storage, conveyance, and hydropower projects. This role provides hands-on experience and exposure to technical practices while you work alongside experienced practitioners.
What you'll do#
- Assist with project administration, including writing reports, drafting proposals and correspondence, tracking costs, and completing progress reports.
- Support the development of proposals, including project scheduling and cost estimates.
- Perform data entry and simple calculations.
- Gain exposure to software including CAD, GIS, GeoStudio, RocScience Programs, and Bluebeam.
- Assist in writing technical documents such as calculation packages, design reports, and specifications.
- Support field investigations and the assessment of subsurface conditions by reviewing drilling and test pit logs, in-situ testing data, and other field documentation.
- Support geotechnical material characterization and the interpretation of material properties using laboratory and field data.
- Perform research and contact vendors for project information.
- Develop familiarity with regulatory agency requirements and industry design standards.
What you'll need#
- A high school diploma and current enrollment in an accredited engineering program.
- Completion of at least 3 years of undergraduate coursework in geotechnical engineering, civil engineering with a geotechnical focus, geological engineering, or a similar field.
- Post-graduate academic experience is preferred.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Good interpersonal abilities for team environments.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and take direction.
- A valid driver's license and a good driving record.
