About the role#
Stantec is seeking a Structural Engineering Intern for the Summer 2027 term in our New York City office. You will support our structural team on infrastructure design projects, working alongside experienced practitioners to gain practical, hands-on experience. This is a full-time position.
What you'll do#
- Assist engineers in preparing contract documents and reports for structural projects including bridges, commuter rail, and subway stations.
- Perform computer-aided design and drafting.
- Check drawings and calculations.
- Conduct quantity take-offs and simple structural calculations.
- Participate in field inspections, which may involve working outdoors in various weather conditions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Good academic standing in an accredited engineering school.
- Prior exposure to CAD design programs such as AutoCAD or MicroStation.
- Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong attention to detail and good communication skills.
- Willingness to take initiative and flexibility to learn new skills.
- Experience in Revit or OpenBridge is preferred.
