About the role#
ICF is seeking an intern to support our Energy Programs, Analytics, and Security line of business. This is a full-time, 10-week internship beginning in early June 2027. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to address challenges involving energy markets, infrastructure, and technology for government and commercial clients. This role offers exposure to high-profile initiatives and the chance to work with experienced professionals.
What you'll do#
- Conduct research on energy programs, policies, and technologies.
- Analyze quantitative and qualitative data to support project objectives, including energy consumption and building performance trends.
- Translate technical findings into reports, presentations, case studies, and other client deliverables.
- Support program implementation, including stakeholder engagement, technical assistance, and operational tasks.
- Maintain information in project management and tracking systems.
- Develop outreach and training materials, such as webinars, workshops, and guidance documents.
- Assist with project coordination, including preparing meeting materials and documenting action items.
- Collaborate with ICF team members, partners, and clients to support energy initiatives.
What you'll need#
- A minimum of 30 college credit hours completed in engineering, energy, environmental studies, data analytics, statistics, economics, business, public policy, communications, computer science, or a related discipline.
- U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Work Authorization.
- Experience conducting research and synthesizing information from multiple sources.
- Proficiency in analyzing data using spreadsheets, databases, or visualization tools.
- Experience preparing written products like reports or presentations.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
- Interest in consulting for government, utility, or nonprofit clients.
- Academic, professional, or volunteer experience in energy, engineering, or related fields is preferred.
Location & details#
- This is a hybrid role requiring attendance 2 days per week.
- You may work from our offices in Reston, Virginia, or Arlington, Virginia.
- This position is a paid internship at $23 per hour.
- No relocation or housing assistance is provided.
