About the role#
Stantec is hiring Civil Engineering interns for the Summer 2027 term. Based in Minnesota, this internship provides hands-on experience within our Community Development Group. You will work alongside experienced practitioners on projects including urban design, roadways, park and recreation design, traffic engineering, and infrastructure development. Most of your time will be spent on-site performing construction activities.
What you'll do#
- Assist with completing the civil component of various projects.
- Perform construction observation to ensure compliance with project documents.
- Document construction activities and measure materials.
- Coordinate materials testing and review shop drawings.
- Provide general project oversight and complete detailed reports.
- Assist with construction surveying and staking.
- Communicate with construction staff, engineering teams, clients, and contractors.
- Assist with CAD drafting, design, and the preparation of plans and specifications when in the office.
What you'll need#
- In progress toward a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, structural engineering, construction engineering, construction management, GIS/Survey, or a related field.
- Experience with Microsoft Office.
- Understanding of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and general surveying.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work independently.
- Ability to work outdoors and navigate rugged terrain.
- Reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and a good driving record.
