About the role#
Specter Aerospace is seeking an Aerothermal Engineer Co-op for a 4 to 6 month cycle. This position offers the opportunity to work on hypersonic vehicle development from ideation to flight. Co-ops receive the same resources and project ownership as full-time staff members while collaborating with experienced engineers and scientists on projects critical to the company mission.
What you'll do#
- Conduct detailed aerodynamic and aerothermodynamic studies and computational analyses.
- Perform flight performance assessments and trajectory optimization for hypersonic vehicles.
- Engage in technical discussions and contribute your perspective during meetings.
- Complete engineering work on federally funded research projects in collaboration with major research institutions.
- Participate in efforts to achieve hypersonic flight using plasma-assisted combustion technology.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Computer Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or Computer Science.
- Interest or experience in computational fluid dynamics (CFD).
- Experience scripting with MATLAB or Python for data analysis and tool creation.
- Experience working in a Linux computing environment.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
