About the role#
Specter Aerospace is seeking an Aerothermal Engineer Co-op for a 4 to 6 month term. This position offers the opportunity to work on hypersonic vehicle development from ideation to flight testing. You will work alongside experienced engineers and scientists on projects critical to the company mission, receiving the same resources and project ownership as full-time staff.
What you'll do#
- Conduct detailed aerodynamic and aerothermodynamic studies and computational analyses.
- Perform flight performance assessments and trajectory optimization for hypersonic vehicles.
- Engage in technical discussions and contribute your perspective during team meetings.
- Complete meaningful engineering tasks on federally funded research projects in collaboration with major research institutions.
- Actively participate in efforts to achieve hypersonic flight using plasma-assisted combustion technology.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Computer Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or Computer Science.
- Interest or experience in computational fluid dynamics (CFD).
- Experience scripting with MATLAB or Python for data analysis and tool creation.
- Experience working in a Linux computing environment.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance, which requires U.S. Citizenship.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
