About the role#
Specter Aerospace is seeking an Electrical Engineering Co-op for a 4-6 month cycle to support the development of avionics, ignition, and control systems for hypersonic flight vehicles. You will gain hands-on experience across the entire engineering lifecycle, from initial requirements and circuit design to fabrication and final testing. You will work alongside full-time engineers on projects critical to our mission.
What you'll do#
- Design, fabricate, integrate, and test custom electrical and embedded systems for flight vehicles and ground-support equipment.
- Collaborate with embedded software, GNC, mechanical, and test engineering teams to define technical scope and refine requirements.
- Create test plans and procedures for system shakedown, debugging, and verification.
- Use laboratory equipment to perform PCB bring-up, evaluate system performance, and diagnose hardware issues.
- Interpret existing schematics and update design documentation as systems evolve.
- Support the hand assembly and modification of printed circuit boards.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related field.
- Familiarity with circuit theory and the analysis of electrical systems.
- Experience with ECAD tools such as Altium Designer, KiCad, or OrCAD.
- Experience with circuit simulation tools like SPICE, PLECS, or Simulink.
- Ability to interpret circuit schematics and use laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes and power supplies.
- U.S. citizenship is required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance.
