About the role#
Specter Aerospace is seeking an Electrical Engineering Co-op for a 4-6 month cycle to support the development of avionics, ignition, and control systems for hypersonic flight vehicles. This role provides hands-on experience across the full engineering lifecycle, from requirements development to final testing. You will work alongside electrical, embedded software, GNC, mechanical, and test engineering teams to deliver systems for experimental and flight vehicle programs.
What you'll do#
- Design, fabricate, integrate, and test custom electrical and embedded systems for hypersonic flight vehicles and ground-support equipment.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine requirements and define technical scope.
- Develop test plans and procedures for system shakedown, debugging, characterization, and verification.
- Utilize laboratory equipment to perform PCB bring-up, evaluate system performance, and diagnose technical issues.
- Interpret existing schematics and update design documentation as systems evolve.
- Support the assembly, rework, and modification of printed circuit boards and electrical hardware.
- Participate in technical meetings, design reviews, and cross-functional project discussions.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related field.
- Familiarity with circuit theory and the analysis and design of electrical systems.
- Experience with ECAD tools such as Altium Designer, KiCad, or OrCAD.
- Experience with circuit simulation software such as SPICE, PLECS, or Simulink.
- Proficiency in using laboratory equipment including oscilloscopes, function generators, power supplies, and signal analyzers.
- Ability to interpret circuit schematics and produce clear technical documentation.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as you must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance.
