About the role#
Specter Aerospace is seeking a Propulsion Test Engineering Co-op for a 4-6 month cycle. This role focuses on the development and testing of hypersonic propulsion systems, including ramjet and scramjet engine hardware. You will work alongside experienced engineers and scientists on projects critical to company objectives, with the same level of project ownership as full-time staff.
What you'll do#
- Take ownership of propulsion subsystem and component development from initial ideation through first-article testing and characterization.
- Conduct engine and component testing within a direct-connect hypersonic testing facility.
- Design and manufacture engine components, test stand hardware, and piping or tubing systems.
- Develop analysis code for thermofluids and propulsion performance using Python or MATLAB.
- Participate in design reviews and technical discussions with multidisciplinary vehicle sub-system groups.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with CAD software, with a preference for SolidWorks.
- Prior hands-on experience gained through a technical shop, lab, or student organization.
- A fundamental understanding of core mechanical engineering principles, particularly thermofluids.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance, which requires U.S. Citizenship.
