About the role#
Specter Aerospace is seeking a Mechanical Engineer Co-Op for a 4 to 6 month cycle to contribute to the vehicle development team. This role provides the opportunity to work closely with experienced engineers and scientists on projects critical to the company mission. Co-ops are given the same resources and project ownership as full-time staff members.
What you'll do#
- Design subsystems and parts for hypersonic flight vehicles.
- Own specific vehicle subsystems through the development process.
- Create drawings for manufacturing release.
- Perform analysis of components within a flight vehicle.
- Design and manufacture components.
- Work between disciplines to optimize novel flight systems to meet performance requirements.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.
- Prior experience using CAD software, with SolidWorks preferred.
- Fundamental understanding of mechanical engineering principles, including statics, materials, and thermo/fluids.
- Ability to work with project autonomy.
- U.S. Citizenship is required to be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
