About the role#
Avmax is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Co-op Student to join our Engineering team in Calgary. You will assist in developing aftermarket modifications for aircraft used in regional airline and special mission operations. During your term, you will gain exposure to the aircraft modification process, including regulatory requirements, design verification, and customer support. You will also have the chance to visit our hangars and interact with the staff who implement our designs. This position reports to the Director of Engineering.
What you'll do#
- Assist with applying design principles to alterations for aircraft structure, systems, equipment, and furnishings.
- Build or revise CAD drawings to support design and manufacturing activities.
- Produce, revise, and update detailed part, assembly, and installation drawings.
- Update or define manufacturing requirements and engineering procedures.
- Ensure project work complies with the company DAPM and Engineering Procedures Manual.
- Assist with continued airworthiness tasks and customer support.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Engineering.
What you'll need#
- Enrolment in a recognized Canadian University Engineering Program with at least two completed academic semesters.
- Completion of at least one materials engineering course and one engineering design course.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel.
- Strong critical thinking, problem solving, and mathematical reasoning skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to work with multiple teams and follow direction.
- Professional demeanor and good judgment.
- Aviation experience and knowledge of aviation regulatory frameworks are considered assets.
