About the role#
Specter Aerospace is seeking an Embedded Software Co-op for a 4-6 month cycle to support the development of hypersonic flight vehicles. You will work alongside electrical, mechanical, and GNC engineers to contribute to the full software development lifecycle. This role offers the opportunity to manage projects from initial concept through to testing and documentation, with the same level of responsibility as full-time staff.
What you'll do#
- Develop, integrate, and test embedded software for avionics systems, vehicle controllers, and ground-support equipment.
- Implement software for ARM-based microcontrollers and other embedded computing platforms.
- Support integration efforts with electrical hardware, sensors, actuators, and communication systems.
- Create test plans and procedures for software debugging, characterization, and verification.
- Take ownership of assigned projects through the entire development process.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency in C, C++, or a similar embedded systems language.
- Familiarity with software engineering fundamentals and object-oriented programming.
- Ability to work independently.
- U.S. citizenship is required to be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance.
