About the role#
Specter Aerospace is seeking a Vehicle Design Co-Op for a 4-6+ month cycle to contribute to the design of hypersonic flight vehicles. This position offers the opportunity to own vehicle subsystems and components while working alongside experienced engineers and scientists on projects critical to the company mission.
What you'll do#
- Design systems and parts for hypersonic flight vehicles.
- Own specific vehicle subsystems and analyze individual components.
- Integrate subsystems into larger systems to ensure proper fit and functionality.
- Create technical drawings for manufacturing release.
- Collaborate across disciplines to optimize novel flight systems to meet performance requirements.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or an equivalent field.
- Prior experience using CAD software, with a preference for SolidWorks.
- Fundamental understanding of mechanical engineering principles, including statics, materials, and thermo/fluids.
- Hands-on experience in a technical shop, lab, or student organization.
- Ability to work with project autonomy.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
- Preferred qualifications include familiarity with GD&T, amateur rocketry experience, and prior experience with FEA/CFD, DFAM/DFM, or large assembly builds.
