About the role#
Specter Aerospace is seeking a Vehicle Design Co-Op for a 4-6 month cycle. This position supports the vehicle design team by contributing to the development of hypersonic flight vehicles. Co-ops are provided with project ownership and work alongside experienced engineers and scientists on tasks critical to the company mission.
What you'll do#
- Design systems and parts for hypersonic flight vehicles.
- Own specific vehicle subsystems and analyze their components.
- Integrate subsystems into larger systems to ensure proper fit and functionality.
- Create technical drawings for manufacturing release.
- Collaborate across disciplines to optimize flight systems to meet performance requirements.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a bachelor degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or an equivalent field.
- Prior experience using CAD software, with a preference for SolidWorks.
- Fundamental understanding of mechanical engineering principles, including statics, materials, and thermo/fluids.
- Previous hands-on experience in a technical shop, lab, or student organization.
- Ability to work with project autonomy.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
- Preferred qualifications include experience with GD&T, FEA/CFD, DFAM/DFM, amateur rocketry, large assembly builds, and relevant leadership experience.

- Compensation: $23-$30 per hour.
