About the role#
Space Dynamics Laboratory is seeking an undergraduate student for a summer internship within our Strategic and Military Space Division. This role focuses on developing and maintaining ground system web applications that support national security missions. You will work alongside engineers to solve technical problems while refining your software development skills.
What you'll do#
- Write clean, maintainable, and documented code.
- Implement, test, and maintain software for internal and external customers.
- Use AI-assisted development tools to troubleshoot problems, generate code, and improve productivity.
- Critically evaluate and validate AI-generated technical outputs.
- Collaborate with software engineers to improve existing web applications and ground systems.
- Assist in the deployment, integration, and testing of software.
- Explore new ways to apply machine learning to mission-related problems.
- Document your work and present technical findings to the team.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate junior or senior in computer science, computer engineering, physics, mathematics, data science, or a related field.
- Minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Programming experience in C#, C++, Python, TypeScript, or similar languages.
- Experience with AI-assisted coding tools and the ability to debug or modify AI-generated code.
- Experience with web or embedded software projects.
- U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Preferred: Experience with Python AI/ML libraries, LLMs, APIs, agents, RAG, or version control tools.
