About the role#
The Security and Information Assurance Division at Space Dynamics Laboratory is seeking a student for a summer internship in 2027. You will work alongside engineers and mentors on professional assignments related to space, airborne, and ground-based systems. This is a paid, full-time position based on-site in North Logan, Utah for up to 12 weeks.
What you'll do#
- Assess and audit systems.
- Apply NIST guidance to current projects.
- Build accreditation packages.
- Manage Plans of Action and Milestones.
- Learn enterprise cyber management principles, including resource management, staffing, and manpower.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a junior, senior, or graduate student in computer science, information systems, cybersecurity, or a related technical field.
- A minimum 3.5 GPA.
- Participation in the Scholarship for Service (SFS) program.
- U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.
- Experience with team collaborative tools and familiarity with Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC).
- Knowledge of vulnerability assessment tools, networks, secure software development, or Government governance frameworks.
- Ability to use security tools such as Nessus, NMAP, SCAP, Trellix AV, PowerShell, SIEM tools, and Splunk.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team, take initiative, and ask questions.
