About the role#
This summer internship provides hands-on experience within the health insurance industry. You will work with the Care Delivery Analytics team to support projects that improve organizational efficiency. The program helps you build a professional network through meetings, volunteer activities, and events with company leaders.
What you'll do#
- Use advanced statistical methods and machine learning to analyze population health data and trends.
- Create disease case definitions based on claims data.
- Design performance metrics for population health providers.
- Build reports and data visualizations for stakeholders.
- Identify business problems and help management implement solutions.
- Analyze organizational goals and business needs.
- Maintain an understanding of company products, data, and research.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate, master, or PhD program in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Data Science, Health Informatics, or a related field.
- A GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with data analysis or reporting tools.
- Experience with at least one programming language such as SQL, SAS, Python, or R.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate ideas clearly to different audiences.
- Experience developing and testing machine learning models on large datasets is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team while maintaining confidentiality.
