About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in managed care pharmacy. You will work on projects related to pharmacy benefit administration, clinical operations, and utilization management. The role involves monitoring drug pipelines, analyzing health outcomes, and supporting quality measures for conditions like diabetes, asthma, and opioid use. You will also participate in team meetings, networking events, and community outreach activities.
What you'll do#
- Analyze literature, clinical guidelines, and claims data for drugs seeking FDA approval.
- Research drug information and assist in developing clinical rationale for medication use policies.
- Identify ways to collaborate with prescribers and members to improve health outcomes.
- Analyze pharmacy claims to spot processing issues or utilization patterns.
- Create educational and marketing materials for patients and prescribers.
- Complete outcomes research projects, including potential contributions to posters or publications.
- Support organizational projects aimed at improving efficiency.
What you'll need#
- Current 2nd year student in a PharmD program at an accredited College of Pharmacy.
- GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Strong knowledge of pharmacy and therapeutics.
- Interest in practicing pharmacy within a managed care environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn internal systems.
- Analytical skills and the ability to work independently or within a team.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Previous work experience in a pharmacy practice setting is preferred.
- Ability to maintain confidential information.
