About the role#
WoodmenLife is seeking a Software Engineer Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This position offers exposure to the insurance industry through the planning, execution, and evaluation of various projects. You will work within the Business Technology division to support daily objectives while gaining professional experience and mentorship.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with development teams to build and maintain software solutions.
- Write, debug, and test applications using languages such as Java, C#.NET, and Python.
- Participate in Agile processes, including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
- Gain hands-on experience with Azure DevOps to manage pipelines and support continuous integration workflows.
- Meet weekly with the Internship Cohort and division leaders.
- Present a capstone summary of your project accomplishments and skill development at the end of the program.
- Apply best practices in software engineering, including code reviews, documentation, and version control.
What you'll need#
- Current status as a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior in college.
- Enrollment in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Analytics, or a related field.
- A minimum 3.5 GPA.
- Experience with software development, code repositories, and IDEs.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work 38.75 hours per week.
- Strong communication skills and a commitment to collaborative teamwork.
- A focus on providing attentive, trustworthy, and resourceful service.
