About the role#
Space Dynamics Laboratory is looking for a Student Assistant to join our Enterprise Application Support Team. You will work alongside professional software engineering staff to receive on-the-job training and mentorship. This role is part of our Student Scholar Program, which offers technical workshops and outreach activities to help you build your professional network.
What you'll do#
- Write clean, consistent, and well-documented code.
- Implement, test, and maintain code for internal customers.
- Ensure all code meets end user requirements.
- Collaborate with other developers to integrate new projects with existing systems.
- Provide operational support for current systems.
- Interface with program team members, technical writers, and engineering technicians.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment at Utah State University as a student in computer science, management information systems, or a related field.
- At least one year of school remaining.
- Ability to work 15-20 hours per week during semesters and up to 40 hours per week during the summer.
- U.S. citizenship or status as a lawful permanent resident.
- Proficiency in common programming languages and technical skills in programming, design, and testing.
- Knowledge of SQL, relational databases, data modeling, and database design.
- Familiarity with Jira and Jira Service Management.
- Understanding of software development processes like version control, peer reviews, and documentation standards.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- A reliable, responsible, and hardworking nature.
