About the role#
This summer internship offers a broad look at software engineering within a defense and space manufacturing environment. You will work alongside mentors to gain real-world experience, build your technical skills, and contribute to team projects. This is a paid, part-time position designed for students who are eager to learn and apply their academic knowledge to practical engineering challenges.
What you'll do#
- Build small features, fix bugs, and update internal tools or applications with mentor guidance.
- Run tests, review logs, and find root causes of software issues.
- Write clean code, document features, and participate in peer code reviews.
- Attend Agile ceremonies and collaborate with product managers and other engineers.
- Explore new technologies, APIs, or cloud services to support team objectives.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior in a Bachelor or Master degree program for Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Signal Processing, Physics, Math, or Computer Science.
- A minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
- Experience with Java (JEE or servlet-based applications), JavaScript, and C/C++.
- Familiarity with Linux/Unix operating systems.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- An inquisitive nature and a strong desire to learn.
Location & details#
- Location: Austin, Texas.
- Schedule: Summer 2027, starting in May for 10-12 weeks.
- Work Modality: Hybrid, with an expectation to be in-person at least 3 days per week.
- Compensation: The salary range for this position is $43,900 to $87,900 USD.
