About the role#
CACI is hiring a Manufacturing Engineering Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This is a part-time, 12-week, on-site internship based in Melbourne, Florida. You will work alongside manufacturing engineers on electronic product assembly and gain experience with modern production systems. The role involves rotating through different functions to see how products move from initial concept to final assembly.
What you'll do#
- Work directly with manufacturing engineers on production improvements.
- Design, improve, and optimize manufacturing processes for electronic assemblies.
- Create and update work instructions, process documentation, and standard operating procedures.
- Troubleshoot production issues and collect data for root-cause analysis.
- Participate in the evaluation of manufacturing equipment, fixtures, and tooling.
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams on cross-functional projects.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
- Coursework or project experience in manufacturing processes, electronics, or production systems.
- Basic understanding of engineering principles and the ability to read technical drawings, schematics, or workflow diagrams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Clear communication skills.
- Familiarity with CAD or manufacturing tools like AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or simulation software is a plus.
- Knowledge of PCB assembly, soldering techniques, or IPC standards.
- Exposure to lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, statistical analysis, or quality methodologies.
- Prior internship or co-op experience in manufacturing or electronics assembly.
- Participation in engineering competitions, design teams, or technical student organizations.
