About the role#
As an AI Intern at Southwire, you will work on projects that bridge the gap between academic theory and real world application. This is a full-time, paid summer internship based in Atlanta. You will be assigned a specific project at the start of the summer and will present your findings at a senior leadership expo at the end of the term. You will work alongside cross-functional teams to build and deploy machine learning systems that support our business goals.
What you'll do#
- Collect, clean, and transform large datasets to prepare them for model training.
- Design, build, train, and test machine learning models using Python and relevant frameworks.
- Deploy models into production environments and assist with ongoing monitoring and maintenance.
- Collaborate with teams to integrate AI models into existing applications and APIs.
- Run experiments, analyze performance metrics, and refine models accordingly.
- Document your findings and communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
- Strong programming skills in Python and experience with SQL.
- A solid foundation in mathematics and statistics, including linear algebra and probability.
- Experience with machine learning frameworks and libraries.
- Understanding of MLOps practices and the full lifecycle of machine learning models.
- Familiarity with cloud computing platforms.
- Experience with R or Java is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving abilities, self-discipline, and a desire to learn.
- Excellent communication skills to work effectively within a team.
