About the role#
Join Southwest Power Pool as an IT Cybersecurity Intern for the summer of 2027. You will gain hands-on experience by working with subject matter experts to implement and maintain security architecture for IT systems. This role focuses on protecting information assets through both technology and process-based controls. You will also complete a final presentation at the end of the internship to showcase your work and knowledge.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with internal staff on security concerns through research, interviews, and assessment reports.
- Manage security tools, appliances, and systems to maintain logical and physical security controls.
- Assist with security event monitoring, vulnerability assessments, and penetration testing.
- Support compliance with internal security controls and external regulatory requirements.
- Participate in team activities and professional development opportunities.
What you'll need#
- Current college student entering your senior year pursuing a bachelor’s degree or higher in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or a related field.
- A minimum 3.0 GPA.
- A strong interest in cybersecurity, IT systems, and technology solutions.
- Excellent teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- An expressed desire to work in the power industry.
- Eligibility to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Location & details#
- Location: Little Rock, Arkansas.
- Term: Summer 2027 (10-12 weeks).
- Modality: Hybrid and on-site.
- Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Compensation: This is a paid internship with housing available if needed.
