About the role#
The Market Monitoring internship is a full-time, 10 to 12-week program based in Little Rock, Arkansas. You will work within the Southwest Power Pool independent Market Monitoring Unit to gain experience in electricity markets. This role requires on-site attendance Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
What you'll do#
- Complete market power studies and analyze the behavior of specific power plants.
- Evaluate potential market rule changes.
- Conduct financial analysis of market performance on a daily, monthly, and quarterly basis.
- Provide technical support to project groups to meet schedules.
- Incorporate an understanding of SPP Culture Drivers, Mission, and Core Values into your work.
- Deliver a final presentation at the end of the internship to share what you have learned.
What you'll need#
- Current college student entering your Junior or Senior year.
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Ability to follow SPP Policies and Procedures.
