About the role#
Samtec is hiring an Electrical Engineering Co-Op to join the signal integrity group in Columbia, South Carolina. This role provides exposure to high speed interconnect design through collaboration with various managers and team members. You will work on assigned projects, build professional relationships, and maintain a focus on customer needs. The position requires taking initiative on tasks and following up on project outcomes.
What you'll do#
- Learn signal integrity design practices, including 3D Electromagnetic modeling.
- Analyze high speed interconnects for printed circuit boards, packages, and connectors.
- Perform measurements using a Vector Network Analyzer and Time Domain Reflectometry.
- Study interconnect analysis methods and metrics used in standards bodies.
- Write scripts to assist in post-process data analysis.
What you'll need#
- Junior or Senior status in an Electrical Engineering Bachelor’s program, with a preference for students planning to pursue a graduate degree.
- Completed or planned coursework in Electromagnetics, Microwave Engineering, and Digital Signal Processing.
- Knowledge of wave propagation, transmission line theory, and scattering parameters.
- Familiarity with modeling tools like MATLAB, ANSYS HFSS, or Key Sight ADS.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills.
- Clear written and verbal communication.
