About the role#
As a Hardware Platform Development Intern, you will join our team in Austin to work on advanced AI compute platforms. You will contribute to projects that integrate hardware, firmware, and software. You will work alongside engineers on subsystem design, laboratory testing, system validation, and performance analysis. This role involves taking ownership of technical tasks while documenting your methods and results.
What you'll do#
- Support the design and testing of CPU and high-speed input and output subsystems.
- Run laboratory tests to evaluate performance, power, signal behavior, and reliability.
- Create scripts and tools to contribute to system-level validation.
- Explore emerging technologies such as PCIe 6.0 and 800G Ethernet.
- Assist with investigations into power, cooling, and energy efficiency.
- Use lab equipment like power meters, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
- Analyze test results and work with the team to reproduce and investigate issues.
- Collaborate with hardware, firmware, software, mechanical, and thermal teams.
- Maintain clear test procedures, data summaries, and engineering notes.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor's, master's, or doctoral program in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or a related field.
- Hands-on lab testing experience from coursework, research, student teams, or personal projects.
- Proficiency in at least one language such as Python, C, C++, or MATLAB.
- A foundational understanding of computer architecture, digital systems, or hardware-software interaction.
- An analytical approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to document work, explain findings, and collaborate with others.
- Willingness to learn new tools and technologies.
- Experience with lab equipment, test automation, or high-speed interfaces is preferred.

- This is a full-time, paid internship based on-site in Austin, Texas.
- The position operates on a rolling basis.
