About the role#
This is a 6-month internship within the Valves Group at MKS Inc. You will join a team of experienced engineers to develop vacuum valve products and solve customer challenges. The program runs from January 5, 2027, to June 30, 2027.
What you'll do#
- Design and develop analog and digital electronic hardware for vacuum valve control.
- Assist with the design, debugging, and board bring-up of real-time embedded electronics.
- Build microprocessor-based control and communication hardware platforms using simulation, analysis, and prototyping.
- Participate in project activities such as DFMEA, design reviews, and the creation of technical specifications.
- Perform failure analyses for customers and develop corrective action plans.
- Work with vendors to resolve component quality issues.
- Evaluate designs based on performance, cost, reliability, and manufacturability.
- Communicate technical information clearly through oral and written reports.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program for Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Solid fundamental knowledge of electrical engineering principles.
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics.
- Proficiency with test equipment including multi-meters and oscilloscopes for embedded systems development.
- A hands-on approach to problem-solving and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication skills and a sense of ownership over your work.
