About the role#
Samtec is looking for an Electrical Engineering student to join the team as a Hardware Design Co-op. You will contribute to the design of electronic hardware that supports our marketing, engineering, and production teams. This position offers exposure to the full design cycle, from initial concepts to final validation in the lab.
What you'll do#
- Brainstorm preliminary concepts with engineering and marketing teams.
- Design and develop printed circuit boards (PCBs).
- Collaborate with Signal Integrity engineers and layout designers.
- Work closely with software engineers.
- Document test plans and test results.
- Oversee the manufacturing and assembly of prototypes.
- Perform system testing and bring-up.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an Electrical Engineering program.
- Basic understanding of digital and analog circuits.
- Familiarity with schematic capture and PCB layout tools like Orcad and Allegro.
- Experience with electrical lab test equipment such as multimeters and oscilloscopes.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- A proactive, self-motivated approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to learn new tools quickly.
- Knowledge of scripting or programming languages is a plus.
