About the role#
This co-op position works with the Plating Lab, Process Engineering, and the Materials Innovation Group. You will gain exposure to laboratory tests, electroplating techniques, and research areas for new plating technologies. This is a full-time, paid role based in New Albany, Indiana.
What you'll do#
- Learn the Samtec electroplating process.
- Perform analytical procedures like UV-Vis and ICP-OES to monitor and maintain electroplating baths.
- Complete quality checks including gold usage and porosity analyses.
- Investigate internal and customer quality problems.
- Use company systems to record and update process parameters.
- Troubleshoot plating line issues.
- Assist with laboratory and process improvement projects.
- Run electrochemical experiments to support R&D projects for new plating methodologies.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
What you'll need#
- Current Sophomore, Junior, or Senior student pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with a team.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects through effective time management.
- Eagerness to gain new expertise and learn new skills quickly.
