About the role#
Samtec is hiring a Chemical Engineering Co-Op to join our team in New Albany. You will work alongside our Plating Lab, Process Engineering, and Materials Innovation groups. This role offers exposure to laboratory testing, electroplating techniques, and research into new plating methods. You will contribute to both fundamental and applied research while supporting daily operations.
What you'll do#
- Learn the Samtec electroplating process.
- Perform analytical procedures such as UV-Vis and ICP-OES to monitor and maintain electroplating baths.
- Run post-plating quality checks, including gold usage and porosity analyses.
- Investigate internal and customer quality issues.
- Record and update plating process parameters within company systems.
- Troubleshoot problems on the plating line.
- Assist with laboratory and process improvement projects.
- Conduct electrochemical experiments to support R&D for new metal plating methodologies.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior in a Bachelor's program for Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to work well in a team and manage multiple projects effectively.
- A desire to learn new skills and gain expertise.
- Flexibility and a focus on customer service.
