About the role#
This is a 4-month student placement for the Winter 2027 term, running from January 11, 2027, to April 30, 2027. You will join the Commercial Banking team to support credit analysis, financial modeling, and portfolio management. This role offers hands-on experience in a banking environment where you will contribute to business decisions and gain exposure to credit management and financial analysis processes.
What you'll do#
- Prepare financial analysis, including ROI, variance, and margin, for commercial loan applications.
- Build and maintain financial models to evaluate borrower credit worthiness and loan structures.
- Support senior analysts by monitoring existing client portfolios to identify risks and opportunities.
- Assist in the preparation of reports and presentations for internal meetings and client discussions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a post-secondary program in Finance, Commerce, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with an understanding of accounting principles and financial modeling.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel (Pivot tables, VLOOKUP) and data visualization tools like Tableau.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and pay close attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
- Understanding of business fundamentals and strategic business rationales.
- Familiarity with banking systems, credit analysis tools, or commercial lending products is an asset.
- Previous internship or co-op experience in finance is considered an asset.
