About the role#
This is a full-time, on-site co-op position based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The role runs from May or June 2027 through December 2027, covering both the summer and fall terms. You will work within the Boeing Platforms Displays department, contributing to software for flight deck display systems on aircraft such as the 747, 737 MAX, and 787 Dreamliner. You will be paired with a technical mentor to gain experience in software development and verification processes.
What you'll do#
- Define requirements, design, and develop software code.
- Integrate and verify software functionality within the onsite engineering lab.
- Collaborate with an integrated team of Collins engineers throughout the software life cycle.
- Implement system requirements and create or update tests to verify code implementation.
- Review technical artifacts, including requirements, code, and tests, produced by others.
- Implement changes identified during peer reviews of your work.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree program in STEM, Mathematics, or Computer Science.
- Completion of at least 60 credit hours by the start of the co-op session.
- Active enrollment through the end of the co-op term.
- Experience gained through coursework, research, projects, or previous jobs.
- Experience or coursework in at least one software development language such as C, C++, Python, or Java.
- Prior internship, co-op, or work experience at RTX is preferred.
