About the role#
This Industrial Engineering Co-op position offers students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience within an aviation and aerospace manufacturing environment. You will work alongside engineering teams to improve production processes and solve complex technical problems. This is a full-time, paid position based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, available for the Summer and Fall 2027 terms. Please note that U.S. citizenship is required for this role.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate directly with production floor employees, including operators, inspectors, and technicians, to resolve daily operational issues.
- Address long-term projects aimed at eliminating recurring manufacturing problems.
- Design tooling to support manufacturing processes and use additive manufacturing (3D printing) for production needs.
- Analyze facility layouts and workflows for building, testing, and repairing electronic or electro-mechanical devices.
- Assist in planning the allocation of personnel, materials, and equipment resources.
- Conduct studies focused on cost control, productivity improvement, inventory management, and production record systems.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree program for Industrial, Mechanical, Computer, or Aerospace Engineering.
- Active student status through the completion of the co-op session.
- Experience using Microsoft Excel for data analysis and visualization.
- Proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
- Familiarity with Lean/Six Sigma principles, process mapping, time studies, or root-cause analysis.
