About the role#
This is a six-month Controls Engineer Co-Op position based in Round Rock, Texas. You will join our team for the Winter 2027 season to assist in developing new, high purity, solid precursor delivery systems for the semiconductor industry. This is a full-time, on-site role.
What you'll do#
- Coordinate project timelines with lead controls engineering management.
- Create PLC and HMI code based on requirements from IO sheets, sequence charts, and electrical schematics.
- Help NPD scientists and engineers troubleshoot controller equipment like sensors, transmitters, and temperature controllers.
- Perform online programming changes for equipment retrofits and upgrades.
- Quote components and order parts directly from vendors.
- Drive process improvements while maintaining a focus on safety.
- Partner across functions to manage change within our global environment.
- Solve problems using a structured approach and active listening.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, or Chemical Engineering, as well as Computer Science, Physics, or Mathematics.
- Understanding of PLC/PAC electrical controllers.
- Ability to read, write, and edit logic using IEC 61131-3 languages including Ladder, FBD, Structured Text, and SFC.
- Command of program scan time, timers, interlocks, latches, control loops, and conditional statements.
- Proficiency or willingness to learn software tools like Python, Ignition, and SQL.
- Experience working in a global, multi-location organization serving the semiconductor industry.
- Strong communication skills and a high degree of accountability.
- Familiarity with university requirements for co-op participation.
Location & details#
- Location: Round Rock, Texas.
- Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday (8a-5p).
- Duration: January through June 2027.
- Status: This position is paid. We do not provide immigration sponsorship for this role.
