About the role#
This is a full-time, paid summer internship for Electrical Engineering students. You will work on-site at our Dixfield sawmill from mid-May to mid-August 2027. This role provides hands-on experience in the forest products industry, focusing on maintenance coordination, project execution, and leadership development.
What you'll do#
- Identify safety equipment, locations, and emergency procedures.
- Participate in behavioral based safety programs.
- Execute a visual standards project.
- Manage maintenance technicians to complete specific projects under the guidance of the maintenance manager.
- Collaborate with the maintenance team on small-scale improvement projects.
- Take direction from maintenance department supervision for daily tasks.
- Use the Enterprise One system for maintenance coordinating processes.
- Investigate and resolve small production-related deviations.
- Communicate with vendors and contractors to obtain quotes and make business decisions.
- Identify potential roadblocks and develop solutions.
- Direct small crews and present project ideas or solutions to leadership.
- Deliver a final presentation to the Plant Manager and Maintenance Manager covering your summer accomplishments.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an Electrical Engineering student.
- Completion of at least your first year of post-secondary education.
- Good academic standing.
- A hard-working and motivated approach to your work.
