About the role#
Entegris is seeking a Continuous Improvement Engineer Co-Op for our San Luis Obispo, California site. This is a full-time, 6-month assignment for the Winter 2027 term. You will support operational excellence by collecting data, performing studies, and applying Lean and Six Sigma principles to improve manufacturing workflows.
What you'll do#
- Collect, analyze, and interpret operational data to identify improvement opportunities.
- Apply Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to reduce bottlenecks and boost productivity.
- Conduct time studies, motion studies, and workflow assessments to uncover inefficiencies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams across Production, Quality, Engineering, and Supply Chain.
- Assist with root-cause investigations and help document standard operating procedures, process maps, and work instructions.
- Participate in kaizen events, improvement workshops, and manufacturing floor observations.
- Evaluate facility and workstation layouts to improve material flow, ergonomics, and safety.
- Design and develop assembly aids, fixtures, tooling, and material handling solutions.
- Assist in evaluating manufacturing equipment and automation opportunities.
- Create reports, visual management systems, and dashboards to track key performance indicators.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled as a student in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering.
- Completion of at least 2 years of your degree program.
- Availability to work 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 8 am to 5 pm, between January and June 2027.
- Familiarity with your university requirements for participating in a co-op program.
- Ability to lift and manipulate mechanical assemblies and objects up to 25 lbs.
- Mobility to investigate and observe activities on the shop floor.
