About the role#
This is a full-time internship for Summer 2027 based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. You will join the flight control software team to work on real-time embedded systems for business, regional, and military aircraft platforms. You will work on components like autopilot, autoland, and flight guidance systems while learning from experienced engineers.
What you'll do#
- Define and review software requirements for flight control systems.
- Develop and implement software architecture and design.
- Write hand-code and integrate auto-generated code from MATLAB Simulink or Stateflow models.
- Implement control algorithms and signal processing.
- Conduct requirements-based testing of flight controls software.
- Support product certification by performing DO-178B/C compliant development.
- Mentor with experienced software engineers to build your skills.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering.
- Actively enrolled through the end of the internship.
- Minimum of 60 credit hours completed by the start of the internship.
- Experience with C or C++ and object oriented design.
- Working knowledge of data structures.
- Experience with agile methodologies and model-based development in Matlab/Simulink.
- Interest in avionics systems.
- Ability to communicate technical information and collaborate in a team.
- Must be a U.S. Person as defined by federal regulations.
